The Heartbreak Part I

On a warm summery Saturday afternoon, I am enjoying the reception at my good friend’s wedding. We raise our glasses to the bride and groom and my phone rings. I am told to cut my weekend trip short and return home immediately. I was informed that my role model, my mentor, my trainer, my coach, my dad had suddenly passed. In my early twenties, facing my biggest emotional challenge, I eventually came to the conclusion that, unfair as it is, there are times when life presents you with little to no warning. Very few are fortunate enough to be given a second chance to get things right. With bad genes (hereditary heart disease) against me, I began to adopt a healthy paranoia for life.

Health and wellbeing were firmly back in focus…
